Yes, you got it! Theresa made her way to Las Vegas to see the guys perform at the Hard Rock Cafe and she has given us her AWESOME review and photos to enjoy!
Hard Rock Café Afternoon Show, the boys put on a badass little set and then did a signing.
My girls and I strolled down Las Vegas Blvd to the Hard Rock Café to check out the 100 Monkeys. We walked in the front door that led to the store. The nice man standing there asked if we were there to eat lunch. We told him no, we were there to see a show. He pointed to the elevators and told us “third floor”. So we stepped into the elevator and pushed the ‘3’. Away we went.
The doors opened to reveal two ladies sitting at bar tables with a stamp pad and a mac checking tickets and stamping “SLOTS” on our wrists.
The guys were on stage still doing sound checks and what not. We got stamped and walked to the bar. After ordering a beer, I decided, since I hadn’t let any of them know I was coming out to the show, to stroll over to the stage to see how long it would take them to notice. About half way across the floor Ben J noticed it was me and I got hugs and a quick chat with the guys before they opened the actual doors.
After they finished their sound check, they went backstage for about twenty minutes.
They came out and hopped on stage. A short set followed, about seven songs long. They opened with Shy Water followed by Clippity Clop, Junkie, The Monkey Song, Gus and they played an improv titled Strangers With My Baby, in which Jackson belted out a nice tune about how he and his girl had drifted apart. It was kinda cute. They finished out the set with Sleeping Giants then informed the crowd that they would be doing a signing for a little while.
The evening show, however, was not as smooth.
The show opened up with a local band from Vegas called The Rooks. They rocked a nice little set that is a little fuzzy to me. After they did their thing, the second band, Imagine Dragons, took the stage. Due to some…technical difficulties, they spent, literally, about fifteen or twenty minutes sound checking and failing. Not at all the fault of the band, as there seemed to be some problems with the monitors and mics.
They finally said screw it and jammed out a nice set, forgive me for not knowing their song titles, as I hadn’t really listened to them before this show. They have a nice sound sort of reminiscent of The Killers.
After they finished their set, the guys came out on stage and started their sound check. They decided to suck up the technical problems and after a brief sound check told us they would be back in about fifteen minutes.
They exited the stage and about ten or so minutes later, a banana clad Marty came out to welcome everyone to the last show of the first leg of the tour. The boys came from the backstage area and took the stage again.
They opened with a nice bluesy beat I haven’t heard before then followed it up with a nice set. I remember hearing some Wings On Fire, Orson Brawl, Sweet Face, Looker, Poison Oak, Ugly Girl, Keep Awake and probably four or five more. By this late time in the set, the guys have requested more vocal or less bass drum, and a couple times requested a switch in mics. Nothing. The evening improv was Lipstick on My Collar, a very…emotion filled piece. During this song the mic stand got broken as everyone knows. After they finished this song, they played Invisable Monsters and then said they were going to take a break and they would be back shortly.
The rest is pretty much history.
For all the problems they had, they put on an AMAZING show. A nice large set, even if it was cut short, that was well worth going to see.

A Big Thank you to Theresa for working so hard on another 100 Monkeys show review! Here is her account of the Venue show in Vancouver!
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I looked at Venue from the outside. To one wandering down Granville, you see an old rundown theatre, with the potential to be so much more. When you walk in the door, you see what it has become.
If you choose to venture up the stairs to the second floor, you are given the most wonderful view in the house. The second floor is a wrap around balcony giving you an amazing view of the floor and the stage. If you got there early enough and made to the ends of the balcony, you are literally sitting above the stage with quite possibly the best view in the house.
The first floor is an open dance floor with TONS of room.
The stage was amazing as well, complete with an LED back drop that is controlled by the soundboard. If you check out some of the seriously awesome videos on the youtube you will see ‘100 MONKEYS’ scrolling behind the guys. This wonderful board also made some pretty pictures like airplanes and flames and other awesome graphics to go along with the songs.
Now down to the dirt…
The guys opened with an AWESOME rendition on Orson Brawl. I’m still adjusting this song being an opener, since its always been the last song of the night. Though I will say, its quite a number to get the crowd going. The transformation of this song never ceases to amaze me. Seriously.
You’ll have to forgive my faulty memory as I can’t remember much of an order after Orson, but I remember hearing some Smoke and the always haunting Looker. Some chipper and sickly sweet Keep Awake and Wing On Fire, complete with Graupner’s very adorable impersonation of an aeroplane. Some Reaper and a little Arizona, and of course The Monkey Song and Ugly Girl. They threw out an awesome improv about warmin up some Campbells Soup and closed out the night with an amazing Thank You to us all.
The show was eff’in AMAZING!
The guys really rocked it. And I will admit, they looked like rockstars on that stage with the awesome lights and an amazing sound. It made my heart swell with pride and brought a tear to my eye to realize how far they have come.

Pictures will be added to the gallery later today!
